Cutting from a paper pattern
Every Placket piece starts as a paper pattern on our cutting table. A short tour of how one becomes forty shirts.

Before any cloth is cut, each style is drafted on paper, sewn up in calico, tried on three people and drafted again. The paper pattern that survives is the one we cut from for years.
Forty at a time
We lay up forty layers of cloth, chalk the pattern on the top layer and cut through all of them with a straight knife. Small runs mean we can change a sleeve between batches if you tell us it is too long.
Graded by hand
Each size is drawn from the one before it, not scaled by a computer, so a size XS shoulder is cut for a size XS person.
